ABOUT ME

Konstantinos Ch. Giotopoulos was elected Assistant Professor at the Department of Management Science and Technology of the University of Patras in 2020 with subject “Information Systems in Management and Economy” (Government Gazette 1039 / 03-07-2020). He holds a degree in Computer Engineering and Informatics (1999, Department of Computer Engineering and Informatics, Polytechnic School of the University of Patras), holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science and Technology (2002, thesis: Using Evolutionary Methods to Optimize the Student Model Finding Process) and in 2007 he was awarded a doctorate by the Department of Computer Engineering and Informatics (dissertation: “Intelligent Agents in Virtual Learning Environments”).

From 2000 till 2004 Dr. Giotopoulos worked as a Computer & Informatics Engineer in Research and Development IT projects, co-financed by the European Commission (IST Projects). From 2004 till 2013 he worked as a Project Manager in Regional Development projects, co-financed by the European Commission and specifically for the Prefectural Development Company, the Prefecture of Achaia and the Region of Western Greece.

From 2011 till July 2013 he was the General Manager of the Prefectural Development Company of the Region of Western Greece and coordinated all the co-financed projects of the Company.

Dr. Giotopoulos has taught courses at undergraduate level, such as Management Information Systems, ERP Enterprise Resource Planning, E-Business, Special Database Topics, Artificial Intelligence, Computational Intelligence etc.

His research is related to the use of Information Systems in Management and Economics, Intelligent Agents, Computational Intelligence Techniques, Artificial Intelligence and Semantic Knowledge Representation for the development of intelligent systems in the fields of e-learning, and retrieval of information and content online.

In addition, he has participated in several research projects, while his work includes more than 40 publications in international scientific journals / conferences and a significant number of citations to his research work in the international literature. Furthermore, during the last ten years he is member of the organizing committee in several scientific conferences.

Dr. Giotopoulos has 15 years of experience in positions of Administrative Responsibility as coordinator and scientific manager of proposals and projects of European & National Programs.
